Wildlife Monocular Calculator
The application
Choosing a monocular from specifications alone can be difficult. More magnification sounds better, a larger objective sounds brighter, and field-of-view numbers don't mean much until you can relate them to something you might actually look at.
This tool lets you explore those tradeoffs visually. Change the magnification or objective size and see how field of view, exit pupil, low-light performance, and other characteristics change with them. A simulated view shows what a subject could look like at the distance and lighting conditions you expect, while side-by-side comparison makes it easier to understand what you gain—and what you give up—between two configurations.
Instead of assuming the biggest numbers are best, tell the tool how you expect to use the monocular and what matters most: long-distance reach, a steadier handheld view, low-light performance, portability, or a balance of several factors. It then evaluates and ranks the configurations that best match those priorities.
The goal is simple: understand what the specifications mean for how you'll actually use it before deciding what to buy.
